Our Farm
Welcome to Ernespie Farm
Ernespie Farm is a proud family-run dairy farm, led by David McMiken, his partner Hollie and his parents, Brian and Jane. Based in Castle Douglas since 1947, we’re a third-generation dairy farm with deep roots in the local community.
In 2019, we expanded our vision – opening Ernespie Farm Centre to share the story of Scottish farming through fun, hands-on experiences. That same year, we were honoured to receive Agriscot Dairy Farm of the Year award.
Today, Ernespie Farm Centre is a destination for all ages. From soft play and outdoor adventures to tractor rides and seasonal events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Gather with loved ones, eat well and stay awhile in our Farmhouse Kitchen, browse our garden centre, or find something special in our gift shop.
We can’t wait to welcome you.

Our Story
“We’re proud to open our gates and share the story of modern Scottish dairy farming with others. As interest grows in food provenance and sustainability, Ernespie offers a unique opportunity for visitors to connect with the origins of their food and enjoy the countryside.
At the heart of everything we do at Ernespie is a dedicated, passionate team who bring the farm experience to life for every visitor. From our friendly front-of-house crew, our creative chefs and bakers and those working behind the scenes, it’s their energy, knowledge and care that create the warm welcome Ernespie is known for.
A real destination for food lovers, The Farmhouse Kitchen showcases the best local ingredients in delicious, seasonal dishes, all served in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Whether you’re stopping by for a hearty breakfast, light bite or a wholesome lunch, the food is always worth the journey.
We’re constantly evolving, with new experiences for visitors of all ages – from new seasonal and evening events, welcoming more furry friends to our outdoor play area, to opening The Gelato Hut, where we scoop our own small-batch, artisan gelato made right here on the farm.
There’s always something new happening at Ernespie, so keep an eye on our news section and Facebook page to stay up to date with what we’re working on next.”
